So you’ve convinced someone to download your app.
Now comes the hard bit: keeping them.
Some users will immediately decide to cancel their subscription, or delete your app, but others are on the fence.
Yes, you need to deliver value quickly. But sometimes you need to fight just to pull them back from the edge.
You need to create space for yourself to demonstrate why your service is valuable.
Here are 5 techniques that I use with my clients:
When signing up for a free trial, a major source of anxiety for users is forgetting to cancel their trial.
Many trial upsells occur before a user has even made it past the onboarding to actually experience the full value of the product, so naturally there is hesitation: what if I decide I don’t like this thing, and forget to cancel?
To reduce this anxiety, you can reassure users that you’ll send them a reminder well before the trial ends.
Komoot does this by having users opt in to the reminder, which creates a very active sense of reassurance that an automatic opt-in might not have.
i.e., because you took an action, you believe it’s more likely to happen.
